Conference Scholarships

Scholarships are being offered for the following events:

  • NAAEE preconference workshop: Environmental Education Learning Institute -- Focus on Nonformal Educators.
  • Higher Education Scholarships.


    NAAEE preconference workshop: Environmental Education Learning Institute - Focus on Nonformal Educators.
    · Pre-Conference Workshop to be held as part of the North American Association of Environmental Education (NAAEE) 31st Annual Conference in Boston, MA, Tuesday, August 6, 2002, 7:00PM - 9:00PM & Wednesday, August 7, 2002, 9:00AM - 5:00PM.

    · Nonformal educators who are interested in participating in NAAEE's preconference workshop can apply for a scholarship to cover the cost of the pre-conference workshop, the conference registration and a membership. Successful applicants will be reimbursed once their conference and workshop registration has been received.

    · Applications go to: Elaine Andrews, NAAEE Executive Director ATTN: Nonformal Scholarship 3142 View Rd. Madison, WI 53711 The scholarship application should include: name, profession, employer, address, phone, and email.

    · Applicants should also provide a brief paragraph (250 words or less) describing your environmental education work, including: the number of years in environmental education and a self-assessment of relative strengths in environmental education competencies: environmental literacy, foundations of environmental education, professional responsibilities of the environmental educator, planning and implementing the environmental education program, fostering learning, assessment/evaluation.

    Higher Education Scholarships

    · The Higher Education Commission will be awarding 16 scholarships for the NAAEE Boston Conference. Each scholarship will consist of: (1) one student registration; (2) a one year student membership to NAAEE.

    ·To apply send an "E-Mail" to: Ms. Jessica Lemons, Assistant, Center for Environmental Education, Murray State University, Murray, KY 42071.

    ·Include in the e-mail scholarship application: Name, Complete Address with Zip, Phone Number, E-mail Address. Also write a one paragraph statement that “relates why you want to attend the conference in Boston". Decisions will be made within one week of the receipt of the completed application by e-mail. Final deadline for the scholarship is June 20, 2002 or until scholarships are distributed.

    ·Please Note: register for the conference now and if you are awarded the scholarship a rebate will be provided.
