New EE Seeking Collaborators/Mentors

Hi there, everyone!

I hope I am not breaking any rules by posting this here, as I have also posted a similar request in the Technology and EE forum, but I am looking for individuals who are interested in collaborating with me on the nexus of EE and technology. I will be exploring this topic as a part of my capstone project and I am interested in potentially presenting something at the NAAEE conference this year.

I am fairly new to both NAAEE and EE in general, so I welcome any and all advice on getting started. Ideally, I would really love a mentor who can help guide me in the right direction and to the right resources.

A little bit about me: I am a graduate student at the University of Houston's COE pursuing my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction. I am on the Learning, Design, and Technology track. My background is in the humanities and education, but my passions concern waste-diversion, sustainability, and eco-literacy.

I look forward to collaborating with you!

Best,
Seka

Seka,

I think you might find the InterpTech conference of interest. This conference is hosted by the National Association for Interpretation (NAI) and California State Parks. I attended last year and can say it is an excellent resource. This is a new conference for NAI and the third annual conference will be held April 30-May 3 in Pacific Grove, CA. Here is the website:

Hi, Seka: My response is very belated, but I think you might find some people with similar interests at both the NAAEE Research Symposium as well as the regular conference. Also, at the Stanford Graduate School of Education, the Learning Sciences & Technology Design (LSTD) program has a handful of students who have similarly intersectional interests. You might want to contact Karin Forsell, who is the program director and is very thoughtful and creative.

All the best,
Nicole

Nicole,

My response to you is equally belated! My apologies. Somehow this got lost in my inbox!

Thank you for your suggestions. Although I have missed the conference this year, and slightly altered my capstone project to focus on various technology integration frameworks apart from EE, I am taking a look at Stanford's Learning Sciences and Technology Design specialization. I have an interest in pursuing my Ph.D, but I haven't found the right program, so thank you for leading me in this direction. I will be sure to reach out to Dr. Forssell.

Thank you, once again!
