Discarded single-use masks and gloves is all too common a sight on sidewalks and in parking lots during the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic has generated enormous amounts of waste in the form of personal protective equipment (PPE) which now poses an environmental problems as these disposable items make their way into the landscape and waterways. Recently, a team of researchers in Australia have developed a way to turn disposable PPE into materials for new roads.
