Salzburg uses mathematical formula to push for more green spaces (Article)

The city of Salzburg will now be using an algorithm (GrünFZ) to mandate how much green space a newly constructed building should have. I think this is a great way to support a healthy city for generations to come. Is this something we could advocate for in US cities?

Hi, Eliza and others,

Thanks for posting this article and sharing your question. The U.S. Green Building Council has a similar strategy for new construction, which seeks to get architects and developers to "create exterior open space that encourages interaction with the environment, social interaction, passive recreation, and physical activities."

See the article, "How LEED can integrate buildings with healthy outdoor spaces" attached for more details.
