Biology/Project Dragonfly: Assistant Director of Advanced Inquiry Program (AIP) & Instructor to manage and teach in graduate programs at Miami University devoted to community engagement in science and environmental stewardship.
The Assistant Director/Instructor builds productive academic relationships across a large-scale learning collaborative; supports cross-institutional professional development; and cultivates the next generation of environmental leaders; serves as a graduate-level instructor and advisor, working with Project Dragonfly team in Miami's Biology Department to deliver a curriculum that integrates web-based courses, experiential learning at partner sites, and student options for field courses worldwide.
The Advanced Inquiry Program (AIP) is a master’s degree program offered by Miami University in collaboration with premier community institutions nationwide, including the Bronx Zoo/Wildlife Conservation Society, Brookfield Zoo (Chicago), Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, Denver Zoo, Phoenix Zoo, San Diego Zoo Global, and the Woodland Park Zoo (Seattle).
Require: ABD, by date of appointment, in ecology, conservation, environmental or science education, or a related field; excellent oral and written communication skills; knowledge of student and instructional support; organizational skills with attention to detail; commitment to working in a collaborative environment to support a diverse instructional team and student body.
Miami University will not sponsor H-1B work authorization for this position.
Preferred Qualifications: Specialized experience in a relevant area such as community-based conservation, public engagement in science, science education leadership, learning in informal and field settings, sustainability, or urban ecology; experience with web-based courses and instruction; familiarity with collaborative tools such as Skype, Google apps, web conferencing, and creation of video/instructional media; PhD.
