The Department seeks a candidate whose expertise includes environmental literacy, developing outreach and placed-based curricula, constructing and maintaining mass and social media, and creating educational materials for school and community groups. Research should address the role of human factors in the maintenance and disruption of ecosystems including the effects of population on environmental quality. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate their ability to integrate natural resource research, extension, and outreach in their work. Please note we are not seeking applicants that specialize solely in K-12 curriculum development or outdoor recreation.
The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Human Ecology, Environmental Sciences or relevant science discipline completed by the start date. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to generate externally funded research, published in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and should have a strong commitment to teaching and working in an interdisciplinary academic context. Candidates with both practical and academic expertise are encouraged to apply.
