Job Description:

Duties will include conducting scientific observations, taking detailed field notes and data, submitting to and organizing an ongoing identification catalog (of spotted cats, leopard and cheetah), and base camp chores. This experience is open to anyone seeking to gain experience in fieldwork and animal behavior research in a small group setting, and is tailored to the undergraduate student. We welcome volunteers from unrelated fields with an enthusiasm for big cats and African wildlife. Data collected is used to study trends in population distribution, behavioral ecology, and effects of tourism.

Volunteers can expect to work long hours daily seeking out and observing these big cats, and should be self-motivated and enthusiastic. Other activities include animal tracking workshops, and volunteers can expect to see and observe South Africa's wealth of other species, such as zebra, elephant, and rhinoceros. At the culmination of our 2017 season, volunteers will receive a Certificate of Completion from the project leaders signifying their contribution.

Camp-style accommodations as well as all program meals, transportation in-country, equipment and round trip airfare from JFK to Johannesburg, SA are covered under the cost of $3,995/session. For those interested in more information, please see our website at and/or contact Sabrina Salome at
