Job Description:

Do you have a passion for sharing nature with children? The Audubon Naturalist Society seeks a highly motivated, fun-loving, and detail-oriented Camp Director to lead our highly regarded and long-running summer and holiday camps at our headquarters, the 40-acre historic Woodend Sanctuary in Chevy Chase, Maryland.

We are looking for a very special individual with exceptional teaching and organizational skills, love of nature and the outdoors, and a passion for customer service. Camp Audubon is at the heart of the ANS mission to connect people with nature in the DC region and is one of our signature environmental education programs, serving more than 1,000 children every year. We provide nurturing support for children preschool-aged and up to develop their confidence and love for the outdoors. In addition to leading all aspects of our summer camp program, the Camp Director also runs “Days-Off Camps” during school holidays and acts as a teacher for a variety of family and school programs during the school year, including supervising occasional campouts and weekend events. In addition, the Camp Director is responsible for hiring, training, and supervising all of our camp staff and seasonal naturalists.

This is a full-time job with benefits and an annual salary starting between $45,000-50,000. Applicant must have experience in management and teaching and must be very comfortable with teaching outdoors and sharing nature with children of all ages. Apply now! The new Camp Director will be hired by mid-June and will overlap with the current Camp Director to ensure a smooth transition during summer 2016. ANS provides a dynamic work environment with a friendly, creative, and knowledgeable staff. Details about our School and Camp programs can be found at our website,
