Coordinates educational activities within division. Proposes and implements education goals and objectives. Develops, implements and evaluates educational programming, as well as supervises these activities. Manages education staff and volunteers; ensures that operations are compliant with District policies and procedures. Develops schedules, defines work assignments and conducts staff meetings. Collaborates with staff from Education and other departments on the development of interpretive materials. Monitors best practices within the environmental education field to ensure that District programs are of the highest quality. Serves as a resource specialist and conducts educational training for teachers and other adults. Coordinates, organizes and manages large-scale special events. Works with Public Affairs staff to create materials necessary to promote events and use of the facilities. Prepares and manages division budget. Maintains positive relationships with community groups, the visiting public and educational professionals. Performs tasks that will require walking, bending, stooping, standing, kneeling, climbing, reaching and sitting. Performs lifting tasks up to 25 pounds. Drives a motorized vehicle to travel to different locations.
Bachelor's Degree in education, environmental studies or a related field. Five years of work experience in a related educational field. Interpersonal skills, both oral and written, necessary to effectively manage staff and work with the general public. Must possess good analytical skills, problem-solving ability and judgment. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Ability to use a computer; and possess working knowledge of word processing.
