The Educator/Deckhand crew position delivers the Sound Experience education curriculum and helps to facilitate the experiential models of education aboard Adventuress. Teaching stations can include plankton, marine life, ocean acidification, marine debris, navigation, and sail handling, among others. Educator/Deckhands should have experience relevant to facilitating excellence in environmental education for youth and adults, be an enthusiast, self-motivated and mission-oriented.
Position Qualifications: Requirements: Must have basic CPR and First Aid training, a WA State Food Handler’s permit, pass a drug test, and submit to a background check. Desired Qualifications: Competencies in teaching/facilitating educational programs, specifically environmental education, marine biology, and experiential education. Background/education in sciences, recreation, or history. Ideal candidates will have B.A./B.S and teaching certificate. Sailing/boating experience a plus, but not required.
