Environmental Education Coordinator, Recycling

Provide expertise for other Township departments, community organizations, residents, local governmental entities and businesses to develop and enhance public support for our environmental programs on solid waste, recycling, household hazardous waste, less toxic alternatives, mosquito control, water conservation, wildlife, native plants and other environmental and public health concerns.
Develop and administer waste minimization and recycling programs for residential, commercial, school-based, and recreational settings.
Plan & coordinate environmental events including, but not limited to, 3R Bazaar, Earth Day GreenUp, Walk to School Week and Woodlands Landscaping Solutions.
Design and disseminate public education campaigns that encourage stewardship and compliance with community values.
Conceptualize, design and target distribution of education and outreach materials including brochures, flyers, promotional materials, and educational displays.
Provide excellent customer service in support of The Township’s waste management contract as well as range of local sustainability- and conservation-related topics.
Write press releases, blogs, social media posts, magazine articles and grant and award applications.
Solicit bids and negotiate agreements with vendors.
Recruit, train, manage and cultivate volunteers to broaden educational outreach and community involvement projects.
Network with governmental and environmental organizations at local, regional and national level.
Explore grant and outside funding sources to enhance programming resources.
Assist Environmental Services Manager in budget development, monthly and quarterly reports and grants.
Meet and maintain the requirements of the driver safety policy.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university degree in Environmental Education, Natural Resource Management or 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer proficiency in MS Office required.
Have the ability to develop creative, innovative educational programs. Have knowledge of educational and informative presentation techniques for a wide variety of audiences. Have knowledge and understanding of a broad range of environmental concerns and issues including recycling and waste minimization. Knowledge of conservation practices, native plants, local wildlife and ecology.
