Job Description:

Program Description:

Farms for City Kids is a non-profit residential educational program, located in Reading, VT, which mostly serves public schools from the inner cities of NYC and Boston.  Our farm program is catered for students in grades 4th – 7th to come and spend a week exploring new dimensions of learning as academics are integrated into everyday farm activities that practice and teach sustainability.  Our program is located on a gorgeous working dairy farm, with school groups coming from mid February through November.

Job Description:

The Farms for City Kids program gives educators an amazing opportunity to open students’ eyes to a world outside of the city.  Since the program is based on a working dairy farm, students are given the chance to work right along with the farmers; scooping up cow manure, feeding calves milk, planting seeds in the garden, and everything else in-between.  As an educator you will lead groups of 5-9 students in these farm based activities; not only opening their eyes to life on a farm and where their food comes from, but also the importance of team work and perseverance.  Educators also have the opportunity to run a couple large group activities (18-25 kids) during the day and in the evening focusing more on teamwork and the connections between the farm and their homes. For more information about our program please see our website page:
