This individual will be chiefly responsible for the implementing educational programs to schools, groups and the public. Necessary skills include animal handling, effective oral and written communication, customer service, and organization.
Duties include program development, program registration, operations, animal care, producing a newsletter, supervising part time and camp staff, and other duties as required.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of basic ecological concepts and principles and have a good foundation knowledge of natural history.
Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with major course work in Biology, Botany, Natural Resources Management, or closely related field. The ideal candidate will have had previous Nature Center, Zoo, Environmental Education, Outdoor Education, or Summer Camp experience. Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
