Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Customer Service: Maximizes each and every guest experience by

Warmly greeting them at facility entrances
Tailoring recommendations according to group size, ages, interests, and time
Processing transactions in a quick, efficient, and helpful manner
Proactively responding to individual needs with a positive attitude
Being knowledgeable about our Membership program

Financial Integrity: Provides for the accurate tracking of Science Center assets by performing general cashiering, ticket and membership sales in accordance with Science Center procedures
Operational Support: Contribute to overall operational functions by

Lending support and assistance to the supervisors and managers, informing them of security, first aid, lost person, and lost item situations
Promptly informing other departments, such as Facilities, Exhibits, and Custodial, of malfunctions, damage, or mess

 

Position Requirements: Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Knowledge of:

Elements of a successful, memorable guest experience
Effective daily operations in a public venue; including POS systems
Knowledge of content of exhibits and theaters
Safety and security response

 

Skills:

Speed and accuracy while handling money
Project an outgoing, engaging presence with guests of all ages and from diverse backgrounds
Excellent oral communication skills
Attention to detail and multi-tasking
Adaptable to changing situations; responsive to time sensitive problem solving.

 

Ability to:

Exercise sound judgement and flexibility should difficult situations arise
Remain positive throughout interactions with both staff and guests
Present oneself in a professional manner, focusing on providing high-level customer service while following policies (such as the exclusion of the use of electronic devise while on duty)
Maintain friendly, proactive demeanor in slow and busy times.
Quickly able to learn and apply new policies and procedures.

 

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent
Previous face-to-face customer service experience
Previous cash handling experience
Basic computer skills
Experience in a museum or public attraction preferred

Physical Demands/ Working Conditions:

Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays. Works in indoor/outdoor setting. Required to be on radio at all times. Required to assist in times of emergency and evacuation situations.
