A Green River Preserve Mentor is a “professional naturalist” who is a college graduate or has equivalent life experience. Applicant must be 24 years of age or older and WFA (Wilderness First Aid) certified. Staff in this role must have passion, expertise, and experience in teaching children in an outdoor environment. A background in natural resources or environmental science/education is preferred, but not necessary. Responsibilities include leading daily field studies on the Preserve, leading or assisting in afternoon activities, coordinating evening programs, and leading Group Learning Projects. Each mentor adopts a camper cabin and serves as a valuable adviser and support system for the cabin counselor and campers. Dependent on available housing and skills of applicants, any Mentor position may be shared with an Activity Coordinator position.
