Job Description:

NAAEE Looking for Two Summer Associates!

The North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) is seeking two enthusiastic Summer Associates to join our team. These positions will help support NAAEE’s communication work, including upgrading the NAAEE website and assisting with social media outreach. These positions will also provide support to our conference planning and operations teams.

Major Functions:

The two Summer Associates will primarily support NAAEE’s communications and technology efforts, including social media outreach and the eePRO section of the NAAEE website, as well as support other teams as needed. 

I. General Communications:

Help draft and post copy for social media and other communication needs; track social media analytics and website analytics; assist with eePRO Groups upkeep, posts, and management; support team with upgrading the website; 

II. Comprehensive Analysis of NAAEE’s Web and Social Media Presence:

Assist the Communications, Marketing, and Membership Specialist and the Director of Technology in reviewing NAAEE’s website and social media platforms and developing recommendations based on effective practices to enhance our social media and website practices;

III. Conference and Administrative Support

Work with the Senior Programs and Conference Manager and the Events & Office Coordinator to support the 2020 virtual conference; take on other tasks, as needed, to support NAAEE’s work.

Minimum Skills and Experience Required:

Currently enrolled in or completed bachelor’s degree in communications, environmental studies, or other relevant field

1-3 years of communications experience and/or web experience and/or experience in the environmental education field

Great writing, editing, and communication skills, including social media experience, as well as writing for the web

Ability to work efficiently, with flexibility, creativity, initiative, positive energy, and good humor

Ability to work independently as required but also to work effectively as a team member

Ability to work remotely

Cultural competence and the ability to work with individuals representing a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives

A team-player who enthusiastically represents NAAEE to external partners, members, funders, and other stakeholders

Preferred Skills and Experience:

Writing and communication, data analysis, research, problem-solving, some experience with Drupal and Photoshop are a plus!

Additional Information:

This position pays $15-20 an hour, depending on experience.

Associates expected to work 32 hours a week over the summer. Flexible schedules or fewer hours will be considered for students returning to college for Fall semester.

NAAEE is looking for a commitment through mid-October.
