A nature-based, Reggio inspired school for early learners, ages 3-5, The Dewey School offers an emergent curriculum emphasizing the natural world, shared through play and the "hundred languages". Located at the historic Canterbury Shaker Village, The Dewey School is seeking to expand its teaching team. The well qualified candidate will be a full time lead teacher for our multi-age, nature-based early childhood education approach and who appreciates working collaboratively as part of a small team. The right educator will love to support, teach, and guide young children through their beginning school experiences, leading circle times, meal times, and curriculum activities throughout the day. As a teacher, they will lead lessons and guide children in the indoor and outdoor classrooms, carrying out both emergent and planned curricula as needed. A typical day often includes most of the day spent outside, in all but hazardous weather conditions.

We are seeking someone who takes initiative in the day to day tasks of our small school, someone that can collaborate with a team (that means communicating and flexing with them honestly), someone who is genuine, and is seeking a position because their greatest love is teaching children about the world around them.
