Job Description:

Nature Day Camp – Coordinate, develop and implement summer day camps and spring break mini-camp

  • Hire, train and supervise Camp Leadership Team, Counselors, Junior Counselors and teen volunteers
  • Manage camp operations including planning, assessment, budgeting, parent communication, logistics, supplies and staffing

School & Scout Programs – Teach school and scout programs and assist Director of Programs with the coordination and development of those programs

  • Manage the day-to-day logistics of school programs (i.e., room setup, educator subbing, schedule adjustments)
  • Assist with educator training sessions, coaching and staff meetings

Public Programming – Develop and deliver public programs on a variety of natural and cultural history topics in support of the CNC mission

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental education, interpretation or related field
  • Proven experience in interpretation, leadership and program development
  • Experience in nature-based day or residential camps (minimum of 3 years of experience preferred)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the natural history of the region, its relationship to local cultural history and awareness of conservation issues.
  • Proficiency in outdoor recreation skills (canoeing, kayaking, backpacking, snowshoeing, etc.)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office – Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Certification in CPR and first aid required; lifeguarding desirable
  • Physically able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
