Job Description:

The Rhode Island Environmental Education Association (RIEEA) is currently seeking an Operations Manager! The RIEEA Operations Manager will be responsible for organizing, conducting and reporting on all the operational responsibilities for the RIEEA Organization. They will report directly to the RIEEA Executive Committee.

The position is funded for 2018 at 10 (ten) hours per week for 37 weeks at $25.00 per hour. The contract term will be from April 15-December 29, 2018. An extension of the position for 2019 will be dependent on fundraising in 2018.

Specific tasks for the Operations Manager (OM) for 2018:

Accounting: The operations manager will be responsible for entering accounts payable and accounts receivable data into a QuickBooks accounting program, issue invoices, cut checks for treasurer’s approval and signature, create various accounting reports needed for operational use and grant reporting.

Annual Meeting: Plan and organize RIEEA’s annual meeting in conjunction with the Board. This includes identifying date and location, managing registrations, creating the annual report, solidifying the program, and assist with other necessary duties.

Fundraising: Coordinate networking and fundraising events. Work with Operations Committee to identify and author grants, develop and maintain relationships with funders.

Green Ribbon Schools: promotion of and application support.

Outreach: the operations manager will maintain up to date and accurate information for the RIEEA website, maintain database and listserv, maintain timely communication of RIEEA email (info@rieea.org), publish monthly newsletter, schedule monthly board meetings, utilize and maintain social media, manage member services.

Professional Development: Organize and process professional development scholarships.

Requirements: A successful candidate for the RIEEA Operations Manager should:

  • Have previous experience managing small organizations
  • Be proficient in or willing to learn Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, and Word Press
  • Be able to work efficiently, independently, and as part of a team
  • Be enthusiastic about Environmental Education
