Job Description:

Science Moab seeks a VISTA to help grow our science engagement organization. This position will involve working on exciting programs related to science education with students, community members, and outdoor recreation guides. Specific duties will include organizing live outreach events, managing social media, overseeing graphic design and website development, and assisting the program directors in enacting community and science-based programming. With a great degree of independence, this position is dynamic, strategic, and creative, offering the unique opportunity to shape a popular local nonprofit for years to come.

Experience: Program management/support; Marketing or communications; Graphic design, including Adobe Creative Suite; Web design and maintenance; Undergraduate degree or equivalent skills and experience

Qualities/Abilities: Dependable, organized, self-directed and self-motivated; passion for Science Moab’s mission and programs, and ability to help enact our vision and values in a clear, engaging, and inspirational way.

As the AmeriCorps VISTA program also aims to provide career development for its members, we’re excited to work with applicants to help mold the position to fit their own interests and aspirations. As such, this description should be seen as more a jumping-off point than a final product.

AmeriCorps VISTAs receive an annual salary of about $16,000, as well as benefits including: relocation and settling-in stipends; a healthcare allowance; paid sick and vacation leave; childcare; federal loan forbearance or deferment; and a roughly $6,000 Segal Education Award for education costs including federal loans.
