We are seeking an energetic individual to support our Community and Conservation Programs by assisting with program coordination, teaching environmental education curriculum to K-12 students, and assisting with the District’s communications. The ideal candidate will have a background in environmental science and/or sustainable landscaping and/or community outreach with social media and digital media.
The successful candidate will possess a collaborative spirit and strong skills in both oral and written communication and independent problem solving. A preferred candidate will be fluent in Spanish and have the ability to create effective graphic designs for our communication materials. A strong work ethic and proactive approach to achieving CBWCD’s goals and mission to empower individuals to make a water saving lifestyle the new norm for Southern California is a must.
Candidates must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. It is desired that candidates have a Bachelor’s degree with major course work in areas of environmental studies, ecology, resource management, hydrology, horticulture, landscape irrigation science, education, communications, or directly related fields.
Highlighted Job Duties:
Under the administrative direction of the Community Programs Manager, the Program Assistant will support the coordination and implementation of the District’s K-12 and community water conservation programs. Responsibilities include conducting public outreach and education activities, scheduling and tracking program participation and general administrative functions, as needed.
Primary duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
•Under minimal supervision schedule field trips, professional development trainings, workshops, and/or community events, and maintain the logistics required such as supply tracking and ordering, invoice tracking, and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) tracking;
•Collaborate with Community Programs team to develop and refine outreach strategies to ensure high levels of participation in District programs;
•Maintain and update CBWCD website as needed;
•Prepare and disseminate program outreach materials and maintain contacts database.
•Following established curriculum, teach K-12 students about water conservation in a classroom and garden-based setting.
