Seasonal Naturalist/Cabin Counselor

Camp Pemigewassett ("Pemi") has a long history (>90 years) of excellent instruction in natural history. A late vacancy has created an opening for a naturalist who would also serve as a cabin counselor. We seek somene with a passion for bugs, but will gladly consider those with other "specialties" and generalists. The person we hire would teach in three instructional periods in the morning and run nature-related actities in the afternoon. Assignments are made by the Director of Nature Programs and Teaching in consultation with the instructor. There are also opportunities to do some instruction in music, art, or sports. We work with kids ages 8-15 at beginning to advanced levels in close to 30 different areas. We have a large and very well equipped nature center that has work space for the campers, microscopes, reference collections and a 1000-volume library. However, most instruction takes place outdoors.The camp sits on 700 acres of land surrounding a small lake. We have access to fields, forests, bogs, swamps, and much more. Pemi's web site (http://www.camppemi.com) has an excellent section on our nature program. Cabin duties will include living with and supervising 6-11 boys. Salary is negotiable and includes room, board and laundry. Must be at least 21. Training in Wilderness First Aid is provided by the camp. Season runs from June 16-August 13
