Job Description:

Camp El Tesoro offers a co-ed summer residential and day camp program for children ages 6-17.  Our campers typically stay one to two weeks during the summer.  We offer a variety of camp programs and allow the campers to choose their morning activity schedule. 

It is the responsibility of all camp staff to further the mission of Camp Fire’s Camp El Tesoro through the planning and delivery of program activities and events, as well as design and deliver program activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers’ age and abilities. 

WORK HOURS AND LOCATION:

Residential camp staff lives onsite during the entire camp season, May - early August.  Position requires varied hours due to the program needs of the week.   Most positions will be required to either have their current CPR/First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain the certification at Camp.

Open Positions:

Assistant Camp Director:  (2 positions, one starting March 1, 2017, one starting April 17, 2017)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prior supervision of a program similar to the camp
  • Develop and supervise staff schedule for programs and activities
  • Evaluate program delivery abilities of staff
  • Coordinate all camp program and campfire activities with staff
  • Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in all program areas
  • Supervise and evaluate Program Specialists to develop and implement all facets of day camp program activities
  • Collect and evaluate records; report and evaluate camp program and activity areas

Unit Coordinator:  (starting date: May 21, 2017)

REQUIREMENTS:

Business Manager: (starting date: May 21, 2017)

  • Manage the daily operations of the camp business service
  • Oversee the inventory and ordering of business, program, and office supplies and arrange for the routine maintenance of the camp business equipment
  • Manage all customer service and communication functions with customers and vendors
  • Assist in the management and record keeping of camper and staff information
  • Assist in set up and cleanup of camp, including end of season
  • Other duties as assigned

Challenge Course Coordinator:  (starting date: May 21, 2017)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in the challenge course program area
  • Assist in overall implementation of camp programs
  • Assist in set up and cleanup of camp, including end of season
  • Other duties as assigned

Waterfront Coordinator:  (starting date: May 21, 2017)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current Lifeguard and canoe/kayak certification
  • Knowledge of pool operation
  • Experience supervising staff
  • Plan, direct, and supervise a safe and fun waterfront program
  • Train and supervise waterfront staff
  • Manage the physical facilities and equipment in the waterfront program area
  • Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and supplies for the arts and crafts program
  • Assist in overall implementation of camp programs
  • Assist in set up and cleanup of camp, including end of season
  • Other duties as assigned

Equestrian Coordinator: (starting date: May 21, 2017)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current CHA riding instructor certification
  • Prior supervision of a horseback riding program similar to the camp
  • Plan, direct, and supervise a safe and fun horseback riding program
  • Train and supervise wrangler staff
  • Manage the physical facilities and equipment in the horseback riding program area
  • Participate as a member of the camp management team to plan, direct, and supervise evening programs, special events, overnights, and other all-camp activities and camp functions
  • Assist in set up and cleanup of camp, including end of season
  • Other duties as assigned

CIT (Counselor-In-Training) Coordinator:  (starting date: May 21, 2017)

  • Past experience with groups of children in school, camp, or a similar setting
  • Extensive knowledge of best practices for working with a broad range of special needs
  • Experience developing, organizing and carrying out special needs, adaptive, or inclusion programs
  • Must work and interact in a professional way and be able to maintain confidentiality
  • Plan, organize and facilitate intake of campers
  • Oversee program adaption for campers

  • Participate in the development and implementation of program activities for campers within the mission and outcomes
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff

Arts and Crafts Coordinator: (starting date: May 21, 2017)

Wrangler:  (start date:  May 21, 2017)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current CHA riding instructor certification
  • With the Horseback Riding Director, develop and deliver a horse program that is appropriate for the ages and abilities of the campers
  • Ensure that camp staff and campers know and follow safety and educational procedures
  • Assist in the care and maintenance of the horses and related equipment
  • Assist in overall implementation of camp programs
  • Assist in set up and cleanup of camp, including end of season
  • Other duties as assigned

Canoe / Kayak Instructor:  (start date:  May 21, 2017)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Assist in overall implementation of camp programs
  • Assist in set up and cleanup of camp, including end of season

Archery Instructor:  (start date:  May 21, 2017)

REQUIREMENTS:
