Job Description:

Responsibilities Include:

Provide environmental education programming to first grade students throughout the state of Utah.
Transport materials and animals for programming using company vehicle.
Assist with the creation and implementation of on-site education programs as assigned, including school programs, preschool programs, summer camps, summer Saturday programs and community programs.
Help train education animals for educational presentations.
Assist in maintaining accurate records of education programs, materials, travel expenses and mileage reports.
Participate in events and fundraisers.
Assist with PR opportunities, including booths at community events and the farmer’s market.
Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

An undergraduate degree or higher in environmental education, wildlife biology, education, or related field preferred. 
Prior handling of small reptiles and experience in informal education is highly desirable.  
Must be able to hold and move birds of prey, snakes, and other wildlife safely. 
Must be able to lift 25 pounds, walk up to one mile on uneven terrain in all weather conditions, and speak to large groups.  
Enjoys working with people of all ages and has excellent interpersonal skills.
Must be articulate, with good writing skills.
Highly organized
Computer proficient (Word, Excel, email)
Must enjoy working and being outdoors.

Requirements:

Must be able to work occasional evenings and Saturdays in the summer months.
Must be willing and able to travel for programs for up to a week at a time.
Must be willing and able to drive long distances in a company vehicle.
Must be a US citizenship or be a lawful permanent resident.
Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Must be able to perform strenuous outdoor work under all weather conditions.
Must pass a background check.

The Outreach Teacher/Naturalist is a full-time non-exempt position.  Some evenings, weekends and travel required.

The Outreach Teacher/Naturalist reports to the Outreach Coordinator.
