IslandWood’s and Antioch University Seattle’s M.A.Ed. in Urban Environmental Education (UEE) Program is a first of its kind program that recognizes the need for diverse educators with the skills and passion to contribute to the social and ecological health of urban settings. The UEE Program is promoting the rethinking of traditional methods of place-based and experiential environmental education, and is developing new ways of connecting people to the nature of the city. It explores solutions that will improve the sustainability and health of cities, while enhancing knowledge of ecological and social systems, developing cultural competency and growing leadership skills. IslandWood creates a generation of stewards and educators who can tackle the challenges of a changing world, as well as generate solutions that lead to resilient, healthy, and thriving communities.

Overview

The Urban Environmental Education Graduate Program Administrative Coordinator will support the UEE graduate program. The Coordinator will be based at Antioch University Seattle.

The Coordinator is responsible for supporting operation, communication and data management for the UEE graduate program. The Coordinator will collaborate with the Education for the Environment and Community Graduate Program staff to promote coordinated recruitment strategies and to support other opportunities to partner.

Reports to: Director of Urban Environmental Education Program

Work location:  Seattle (will travel to Bainbridge Island a couple of times per month for meetings)

Responsibilities:

Program Operations and Communication

  • Create and manage efficient internal systems of communication and program operations that supports the UEE Graduate Program
  • Support regular communication between Urban Programs, IslandWood’s Bainbridge Island Campus, and Antioch University
  • Support graduate students through the admissions, registration, and orientation processes 
  • Coordinate and manage web-based communication with graduate students (intranet and shared networks)
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to maintain an online presence (social media, e-blasts, webpage, blog posts)
  • Collaborate with Bainbridge Island operations team to ensure consistent staff support
  • Support external partnership relations (Seattle Parks and Recreation, Boys and Girls Club of King County, King County, Seattle Public Schools, etc.)
  • Provide administrative support for the application process
  • Assist in organizing application materials on IslandWood Intranet and Antioch University Seattle systems
  • Coordinate interview process
  • Assist in organizing academic materials on IslandWood Intranet and Antioch University Seattle academic systems
  • Provide support for marketing efforts in conjunction with the marketing team
  • May represent IslandWood and Antioch University Seattle in student recruitment to graduate program

Data and Resource Management

  • Support the design of UEE program website and registration pages for program and recruiting events
  • Support grad inquiry and recruitment process using Salesforce data processing
  • Manage and document on-line surveys, student work, and other examples of program impact
  • Create and maintain efficient systems for data and resource management
  • Help organize and facilitate training of graduate students in the utilization of web-based and other media platforms

Qualifications:

Required

  • Proficiency in planning, organization, and project management
  • Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; excellent time management, proactive problem- solving skills
  • Competent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Accurate typing/keyboarding skills with close attention to detail
  • Desire and demonstrated ability to learn new computer programs
  • Supports diversity, equity, and inclusion in everything we do

Desired

  • Degree beyond high school
  • Five or more years of office work and/or registration experience
  • Proficiency with database tools such as Salesforce, FormAssembly and/or Eventbrite
