Manage the delivery of Arboretum programs for children birth through age eight and families, building new program curricula that align with the institution’s strategic goal of inspiring, engaging, and catalyzing audiences to take action on behalf of trees.
Transport and narrate for visitors on a 48-passenger, open-air tram on designated routes throughout the Arboretum, or narrate tour aboard visitor provided vehicles. Provide interpretation of The Morton Arboretum, highlighting collections, seasonal elements, and Arboretum programs. As an ambassador of the Arboretum and its mission, greet visitors and respond to inquiries.
Teach school aged children science and nature-discovery activities related to the Arboretum’s remarkable and varied natural areas and seasonal exhibits. Develop science curriculum for each camp, under the guidance of the Science Camp and Scout Programs Supervisor, utilizing education design standards. Lead groups of up to 15 students in assigned grade level from Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade.
Research and develop a wide variety of Arboretum-centered content to inspire, engage, and catalyze the general public to take action on behalf of trees. Coordinate with Arboretum staff or other subject-matter specialists, interpretation and exhibit contractors, graphic designers, and volunteers to produce print and digital interpretation.
