As the Outdoor School Intern, you will gain exposure and experience in the field of outdoor science education. You both facilitate and support our Opal Creek Outdoor School program, with a mix of teaching and behind-the-scenes work. Our teaching philosophy is inquiry based and hands-on, and you teach science by doing science. At a 1:15 Instructor-to-student ratio, you allow students to drive their own learning. You will live at Jawbone Flats in private cabin-style housing for our programming season: March to November.

Opal Creek Ancient Forest Center is seeking a dynamic Outdoor Science Instructor for our 2018 programming season! This position works with all of our diverse programs: outdoor school, backpacking expeditions, workshops, and hospitality. Our teaching philosophy is inquiry based and hands-on, with Instructors teaching science by doing science. This is a residential position, and Instructors will live in the old mining town of Jawbone Flats, in the heart of the Opal Creek Wilderness Area.
