Apply the engineering method and become an environmental steward as you repurpose recyclables into a seaworthy vessel. Master obstacles in buoyancy, construction, and physics to race your boat to victory. This live, NESS instructor-led program is hands-on and engaging, and is aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).

The American Salvage Association (ASA) and the North American Marine Environment Protection Association (NAMEPA) are seeking all students who have recently demonstrated their passion for the Marine Sciences by participating in a Science or Engineering Fair either individually or in a team (of up to three persons) to participate in its 8th Annual Marine Sciences Scholarship Competition. Winners will earn scholarship funds to further their education and research in this exciting field!

The North American Marine Environment Protection Association (NAMEPA) is excited to announce that our 10th annual bilingual art contest will be open January 2, 2019 to March 31, 2019. The theme is "All Aboard! There's a place for you in the maritime community!" which highlights diversity and the range of career and education opportunities within the maritime industry. The art contest is open to all students in grades K-12 residing in North America, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean.
This contest is completed in partnership with the US Coast Guard (USCG) and the Inter-American Committee on Ports of the Organization of the American States (CIP-OAS).

Since its inception, NAMEPA has been engaging maritime businesses, educators, government and the public to “Save Our Seas” by promoting sound environmental practices. Previous recipients have included Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Maersk, APL, Teekay Corporation, the United States Coast Guard, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, National Geographic, NOAA and others.
This easy-to-use guide is designed to provide maximum flexibility for learners in both formal and informal settings. It may be used as a standalone teaching tool, or to supplement lessons in other areas. This guide includes information about the marine industry with useful lessons for students in grades K-12 with a focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) objectives and alignment to NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards).

The North American Marine Environment Protection Association (NAMEPA) is an industry-led organization that works to educate seafarers, port communities and students about the need and strategies for protecting the marine environment. In partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), NAMEPA has created An Educator’s Guide to Marine Debris to provide educators with a tool to help students become more informed on marine debris and encourage environmental stewardship.
This comprehensive educator's guide can be used by formal and non-formal educators to provide interactive ways to bring the marine environment into the classroom. It also highlights fun, hands-on learning techniques in outdoor settings to enhance ocean literacy. All lesson plans are aligned with NGSS.
The North American Marine Environment Protection Association (NAMEPA) is a non-profit with a mission to educate students, seafarers, and the general public on the importance of marine environment conservation.
The intern will aid the Education and Outreach Manager with the planning of education programs, volunteer events such as beach clean-ups, and social media outreach to “Save Our Seas.” The intern will also have the ability to attend maritime industry networking events and explore the dynamics of non-profit management. The intern will be involved in administrative and organizational support to the NAMEPA team including assisting with marketing materials, data entry and general office support.
