Hell's Bells by Harold R. Hungerford
Harold Hungerford has been a public school teacher and administrator, and a professor in science and environmental education at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. Mr. Hungerford is a pioneer of environmental education in the United States, and his recent memoir, "Hell's Bells" is now available.

Lost & Found Nature: A Hopeful Approach to Education
Emerging research is demonstrating more and more the importance of hope in tackling long-term, large-scale issues like climate change. We have learned that feeling fearful and helpless does not effectively move us to action, and it is important that we approach climate change education from angles that motivate and empower rather than threaten and defeat. Sharing Nature - Camps - a Personal Perspective
Camps for children have been an abiding part of sharing nature for with children. One camp, outside of Philadelphia, was started by a number of socially conscious and financially secure persons in Philadelphia in circa 1887. They articulated they wanted to provide a place for children to experience nature outside of the city. This camp, Paradise Farms still exists. However, one needs to see the impact of camp upon persons who have experienced them, have had time to draw up from their wisdom, the value of such things, and provide perspective. Listen to the words of Dr. Bill Belzer - who experienced nature and provided experiences for many children over time in nature.
