[Washington, DC – April 22] Nominations are now open for the 2019 EE 30 Under 30 program, which recognizes 30 leaders under 30 years old from across the globe who are using environmental education to build a sustainable future. Launched on Earth Day, April 22, by the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE), the call for entries is open until June 3, 2019.

EE 30 Under 30 was created in 2016 to recognize and support exemplary young leaders working to achieve the triple bottom line—addressing environmental sustainability through a lens of economic and social equity. Since then, it has honored 90 professionals from 20 countries. Their work ranges from addressing food security issues to establishing partnerships to protect endangered species.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to shine a light on the incredible work that is taking place by young leaders in every pocket of the planet,” says Judy Braus, Executive Director at NAAEE. “It gives hope for the future to all of us.” The program is made possible by the Global Environmental Education Partnership (GEEP), the U.S. Forest Service, and Wells Fargo.

Class of 2018 alumna Rachael Rost from Kansas, United States, said, “The 30 Under 30 experience has empowered me to be a better educator and leader within my community. With a new network of partners and colleagues, I am able to connect my own teaching to the work of others across the globe.”

Rost's fellow alumnus Adedoyin Adeleke, from Ibadan, Nigeria commented, “I am delighted to be named among 2018 EE 30 Under 30 by NAAEE. It enforced my sense of responsibility to intensify my effort and commitment to environmental education for a sustainable Africa.”

The EE 30 Under 30 Class of 2019 will join a growing community of environmental education leaders with opportunities to network, grow professionally, and promote their work through NAAEE’s global network. Finalists will also have an opportunity to apply for an all-expenses-paid trip to present at the 2019 NAAEE Annual International Conference, held in Lexington, Kentucky, from October 16-19, 2019.
