Educating Youth for Resilient and Adaptive Cities

Hi! We are a group of Architects, Urban Planners, Systems Engineers, Educators and Curriculum Designers that has worked collaboratively to create curriculum and hands-on kits for K12 middle grades to build teams and knowledge about how to build adaptive and resilient cities. In a five-step, 9-week curriculum, participants develop ideas and concepts about how lifestyles, infrastructures, and technologies need to be adapted for different geographies, climates and resources.

Some of you participated at our Sustainable Cities workshop in Spokane. Truly inspiring!
We would like to reach out to the rest of the NAAEE community to find institutions willing to pilot the program in 2019. We will provide curriculum and kits at cost. Please see links and contact me if you are interested!!

What is the youngest grade that you recommend this for? I realize that target is 6-8, but do you think it would adapt well for grade 5, maybe 4?

I am definitely interested in piloting with a local school. In addition, we are working in the UC/CSU systems in CA to compile K-16 education materials related to climate change, and I would be interested in connecting with you more about ways to include your work. My email is vderr@csumb.edu. I am not sure how to contact you from the materials I saw.

Hello again! We are going to host a webinar on the research and curriculum mentioned above. What questions would you like answered or what topics would you like to explore? Comment below!
