Virtual Citizen Science Expo

April is Citizen Sciene Month! Spotty Rain and the Southeast Oklahoma Library System are hosting a virtual citizen science expo to connect youth and scientists. From the website:

The 2021 Virtual Citizen Science Expo (VCSE) is hosted in collaboration with the Southeast Oklahoma Library System (SEOLS). The goal of the VCSE is to celebrate Citizen Science Month and share many opportunities to participate in citizen science with kids, families and youth educators.

Citizen scientists are everyday people who volunteer to help scientists collect information and solve real world problems. The goal of the Virtual Citizen Science Expo is to get youth and families outside and engaged in backyard science.

Become a citizen scientist in training. Our Backyard Explorer library program teaches kids and families about nature inquiry using fun videos and citizen science logbook challenges to get kids outside and making observations about leaves, weather, insects, maps, soil, and birds.

Meet real scientists in a virtual world. Join us online in April to learn how to volunteer to help scientists solve real world problems. Visit the VCSE to explore online exhibits and live presentations from citizen science programs.
