Job Description:

The Database Associate supports and maintains Defenders’ constituent database including ensuring the highest levels of data accuracy to support fundraising efforts. This position also oversees all revenue processing streams in a timely and accurate manner, and coordinates reconciliation with the Finance department and Defenders’ revenue processing vendors.  The Associate is also the day-to-day contact for Defenders’ Member Care vendors 


Database Support

Oversees revenue and response processing vendors including caging and credit card processing partners; leads projects to streamline and improve our revenue processing capabilities; maintains accurate workflows and documents processing procedures, policies, and standards
Responsible for hygiene and data integrity for Defenders’ CRM database; documents business decisions, workflows and other vital data components
Works with teammates in regular reconciliation of fundraising revenue; responsible for the accuracy of fundraising information presented to Finance to ensure the integrity of our fundraising and accounting databases
Tracks and manages all automated reports and ensures accuracy and on-time delivery to various stakeholders
Supports Fundraising Systems Analyst in identifying and developing enhancement opportunities for our systems
Assists in tracking all database requests to ensure prompt response and timely follow-up
Responsible for maintaining the workplace giving email box and related matching gift verification.
Manages the workflow related to the high dollar check log to ensure all gifts are distributed to the appropriate parties and updated in a timely fashion.

Member Services

Oversees external Member Care vendor to ensure seamless day-to-day operations in the customer service department.
Responds to customer service issues in a timely manner; elevates new concerns where applicable
Maintains accurate workflows and documents customer service procedures, policies, and standards


Education: Bachelor’s (B.A./B.S.) degree or equivalent

Experience: 2 years of relevant experience

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities for Database Associate

Knowledge of membership databases, strong MS Office and project management skills, SQL experience preferred
