Teaming Up for Student Environmental Action and Justice
Date and Time:
Wednesday, July 27, 2022, 2:00pm to 3:00pm
"Teaming Up for Student Environmental Action and Justice" is part of the Smithsonian's National Education Summit.
In this free virtual session, Smithsonian staff will co-present with teachers from the Chesapeake Math/IT Academy to spotlight a collaboration to empower teens to lead environmental action projects at their school. The session will show how schools and museums, as formal and informal learning spaces, powerfully complement one another to engage students in environmental action. The session is targeted at high school teachers and museum professionals, but the ideas are transferable and inspiring for all.
This is one of the Smithsonian's National Education Summit's 30+ sessions for educators across the country to explore:
- Innovative lesson design for English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Visual Arts, and Civics
- Methods to cultivate social-emotional learning, inquiry-based learning, and youth creativity
- Insights from teachers and Smithsonian educators on instructional tools and resources to enhance learning
