Esteban Gast is a Colombian-American comedian and educator based in Los Angeles. After teaching and co-authoring a textbook on creativity at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Esteban moved to Panama and eventually became President of Kalu Yala Institue, an off-the-grid ecocommunity and sustainability-focused study abroad program. A few months of his time there were captured for the VICELAND TV show "Jungletown." After the tv show came out, Esteban moved to Los Angeles and created work at the interesection of education and entertainment. From co-creating and co-hosting the Spotify Original Podcast "Identity at Play" about Latinidad to creating and hosting a webseries called "Nothing is Boring" for SoulPancake that celebrates curiosity, Esteban is passionate about telling stories that matter. He's currently the host of "Do You Even Care" a comedy talk show from Adam McKay's Yellow Dot Studios. Most recently, Esteban helped create Climate Comedy Cohort, alongside Generation180 and American University's Center for Media and Social Impact's GoodLaugh, a program for professional comedians to learn about the climate crisis. With Generation180, he also helped create Climate Cultura, a program for Latinx creatives. He currently serves as the Comedian-In-Residence at Generation180. He was selected as a Grist50Fixer in 2023 and "Top 100 Latinos" in the climate movement by Sachamama. He continues to tour as a standup comedian and performer. He's been featured on NPR's Science Friday, ABC's Nightline and the Guardian.
