About NAAEE
For more than 50 years, NAAEE has been a trusted partner, working to advance environmental education throughout North America and around the world. In the past decade alone, we have supported thousands of educators working in schools, universities, businesses, zoos, aquariums, museums, faith-based organizations, and all levels of government to help create a healthier, more sustainable future for all. Environmental education does not advocate a particular viewpoint or course of action. Rather, it uses science-based information to help individuals and communities explore multiple perspectives, strengthen analytical skills, and engage more thoughtfully with complex issues.
Our programs have far-reaching and well-documented impacts. They equip people from all backgrounds with the knowledge and tools needed to make informed choices about energy use, water conservation, land stewardship, and public health. They enhance academic success, bolster STEM learning, and cultivate the problem-solving and innovation skills critical for competing in a global economy. Research consistently shows that environmental education is one of the most effective, non-regulatory tools for protecting natural resources, improving public health, and building a future-ready workforce.
At NAAEE, we believe everyone deserves access to clean air, safe water, nature, and healthy communities. We know education is a powerful catalyst for voluntary action, collaboration, and lasting change. As a non-partisan, science-based organization, we are committed to working with all partners—regardless of political affiliation—to build a stronger, healthier, and more resilient nation. We remain focused on solutions, guided by evidence, and united in the belief that people who are well-informed and well-prepared are best positioned to lead positive change in their communities and beyond.
