How are you using education to build more sustainable and equitable communities? Tell us about your EE work and impact.
I work with organizations across Northern Ireland to educate their employees and senior leadership teams on responsible business themes. The organisation I work for, Business in the Community, focuses on People, Planet and Place, and we run programmes with our member organisations on climate action, biodiversity, health and wellbeing, volunteering, ED&I, and community work. I create toolkits, workshops, and other advisory programmes based on our members’ needs, and we organise events throughout the year that capture, recognise, and share best practice of our members.
Tell us about your journey to where you are today. What inspired you? What has your path been like?
Originally from Italy, I have a strong understanding of the importance of nature in society. Growing up, my family always talked about how healthy environments make the best and most nutritious food, and that inspired me to follow a career in sustainability. After working for a few years in agri-food sustainability, I wanted to expand my reach and help raise awareness of sustainability across a range of industries.
How can people learn more about or support your work?
You can find out more on Business in the Community’s website.
A Little More About Me
What (or who) keeps you hopeful for the future?
I am hopeful for the future because I see more and more people taking action on climate change, from individuals at home to businesses. We are moving in the right direction.
Where do you feel most at peace and why?
There are many beautiful beaches in the north coast of Northern Ireland, and one of my favorites is Downhill Strand. It has stunning cliff faces and sand dunes.
Do you prefer sunrise, sunset, midday, or midnight?
Sunrise in the winter, and sunset in the summer.
What’s your favorite food to celebrate with?
A good Italian pizza.
