Update on Hurricane Irma in Puerto Rico

Our thoughts are with the people of the Caribbean and US in the path of Hurricane Irma, including members of our staff. We are deeply saddened to learn of the damage Irma caused to Barbuda and neighboring islands and wish their people strength and perseverance at this time.

We continue to be in touch with our conference co-hosts, Para La Naturaleza, and our colleagues at the Hilton Caribe. Hurricane Irma did not cause as much damage to Puerto Rico as it could have, though most parts of the island are currently without power and dealing with flooding and wind damage. At this point, the NAAEE Annual Conference and Research Symposium will go on as planned. It will be an opportunity to help Puerto Rico by bringing people and support to the island. We are already looking at how we can help support our friends and partners before, during, and after the conference. We are working with Para La Naturaleza to identify local organizations that are working to provide relief to those most in need and will share how you can show your support.

Thank you all for your good wishes for the people of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, as well as all the countries and states in the path of Irma. Please stay safe and continue to let us know if you have any questions.
