How are you using education to build more sustainable and equitable communities? Tell us about your EE work and impact.

To develop more sustainable and equitable communities, I work directly with the Office of Sustainability at Kennesaw State University (KSU) to connect students, staff, and community partners to collaborative efforts tied directly to current sustainable programs including recycling, composting, weatherization, and mitigation of food waste!

Tell us about your journey to where you are today. What inspired you? What has your path been like?

I believe that I truly found myself falling in love with the concept of conservation and sustainability when I decided to join a conservation trail crew in Maine. For 5 months being without phone service, public restroom or showers, but still servicing the land and accessing its beauty, I adopted a newfound passion of protecting what is already here, while also mitigating human-driven negative impacts to society.

How can people learn more about or support your work?

The best ways to support are by connecting on LinkedIn, as well as showing support to all my “Mother” organizations that have trusted me and given me the opportunity to spread my knowledge and joy:

A Little More About Me

If you could be any animal or plant, what would you be and why?

I would be a lynx, because I am usually described as a person who once you meet you won't forget, but will always be needed in a new place shortly after.

Or a sycamore tree! It's my favorite kind of tree. This way I can reach high to the sky and enjoy the serenity of a nice creek or river.

What are you happiest doing?

Truthfully, I am happiest when I can experience the joy of others while learning through myself. It reassures me that I am on the right path and that the work and efforts I endure do not go unnoticed.

What song or artist has uplifted you lately?

If you know me, you know the answer is Chance the Rapper. Very inspirational artist whose lyrics help me continue to pursue my passion, no matter how much the world may be against you.

What is one thing about you that might surprise others?

This is going to be a good one! But I get very anxious when I am around people I do not know, although I have been told by MANY that that does not seem like the case at all!
