Kevin Coyle

Kevin Coyle is Vice President for Education at the National Wildlife Federation. He oversees its Eco-Schools USA program and Schoolyard Habitats® for 11,000 K-12 schools. He also manages NWF’s higher education based Eco Leaders program and supervises the Federation’s climate change education campaign and education policy advocacy programs. He manages NWF’s work on connecting children and families to nature, its 10 million outdoor kids program and, for nine years, supervised editorial for NWF’s award-winning publications including Ranger Rick® Magazine with one million monthly readers. NWF’s educational efforts serve some six million young people. He also manages the Federation’s certified habitat programs with 207,000 sites certified and its monarch butterfly and community habitat campaigns and heads up the Federation’s organizational long range planning effort – Saving America’s Wildlife.

Prior to NWF, Kevin was President and CEO of the National Environmental Education Foundation. He is a principal founder of National Environmental Education Week, helped incubate National Public Lands Day and GreenBiz.com. Before NEEF, Kevin was President and CEO of American Rivers, vice president of River Network, and co-founder and president of the American Land Resource Association. He worked for ten years with the U.S. Department of the Interior as Assistant Regional Director of the Northeast Region for grants and planning. He is a recipient of the U.S. Interior Department’s Meritorious Service Award and honored by Paddler Magazine on the list of “top ten river conservationists of all time.” He also received the White House’s “Reinventing Government” award and has received an Award of Honor from the U.S. EPA for support of the field of environmental education in the U.S. In 2007 and 2008, he received successive awards from the Natural Resources Council of America for developing training programs in concert with the Hon. Al Gore for the film, An Inconvenient Truth. He has a Juris Doctor degree from Temple University and currently serves as a trustee of the National Recreation and Park Association.
