How are you using education to build more sustainable and equitable communities? Tell us about your EE work and impact.
I combine both education and entertainment to create free, informative videos on social media that reach out to millions of people globally, hence increasing access to environmental education for people all over the world. My videos have inspired young children who are the next generation to inherit this earth, and they are motivated to do more. I also conduct tours, workshops, and learning journeys with the public, schools, and companies, regularly inspiring them to do more for our environment.
Tell us about your journey to where you are today. What inspired you? What has your path been like?
I am an environmental biology graduate, and I have been in the nature and outreach industry for almost eight years. I have previously worked in Singapore’s natural history museum, the Singapore Zoo, Singapore’s national park agency, and also as a science teacher. I’ve always wanted to reach out to more people outside of this community as our environment affects everyone, and when the opportunity came to create a social media channel, I jumped on it, hoping that it can continue to reach millions of people all over the world, to get them to learn and care about our earth.
A Little More About Me
Who (or what) do you look up to as inspiration?
Sylvia Earle. She is the mother of all oceans and her relentless effort to protect our blue spaces has never wavered. She always encourages others to have hope despite the state of the world, and that is exactly what the world needs in order to continue moving forward.
If you could be any animal or plant, what would you be and why?
I would want to be a seagrass, specifically the spoon seagrass (Halophila ovalis). Seagrass is the only true plant that can survive in a marine environment! They have the potential to store carbon up to 35 times faster than a tropical rainforest, They also provide food and habitat for so many marine animals!
What are your hobbies?
Showering love to my two cats!
What is one quote that you live by?
Your ripples can make waves!
