How are you using education to build more sustainable and equitable communities? Tell us about your EE work and impact.
I am the Co-General Director of “Ahora Qué?”—a youth-led organization focused on environmental communication and education. In this role, I coordinated the education area, conducting workshops for various change agents to equip them with the tools and perspectives needed to catalyze climate action. I co-created and directed the Program for Environmental Leaders (FLA), a pioneering in-person environmental education program for youth in Argentina. In FLA, we present the complexity of the climate crisis, facilitate debates, and develop impactful projects to address it, while also nurturing leadership skills to transform participants into changemakers.
In 2023, I successfully passed on the direction of FLA, ensuring its growth and sustainability while I continued to focus on expanding the impact of “Ahora Qué?” Drawing from my extensive experience in non-formal education, I am now dedicated to strengthening my team and furthering our mission to build more sustainable and equitable communities.
Tell us about your journey to where you are today. What inspired you? What has your path been like?
My mission is to amplify the socio-environmental challenges of the Global South in international contexts, ensuring our voices are heard in decision-making processes. Moreover, I am committed to supporting climate action in cities, especially in Latin America.
This became my main objective when, representing my NGO in international contexts, I realized many particular aspects of Latin America, such as urban dynamics, characteristics of informal settlements, our health and education system, our economic challenges, among many others, imply very different priorities for climate action for the Global North compared to the Global South. Therefore, I focus on showcasing the reality of Latin America, to ensure a just transition that leaves no one behind.
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography from the University of Buenos Aires, and have been working as a climate change expert, focusing on urban climate action and resilience, for the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and independently.
My strong background in non-formal education has driven me to create innovative environmental education projects. In the teams of "Ahora Qué?" and the Program for Environmental Leaders (FLA), I found a community of young people who care about the same issues as I do, providing a network of support and motivation. This sense of community is why I continue to invest in spaces where people share a common passion for the environment.
