How are you using education to build more sustainable and equitable communities? Tell us about your EE work and impact.
My work combines children’s media, music, and playful learning to highlight climate solutions, emotions, and role models. I do this through classroom visits, educator PD, and my series Suzie Hicks the Climate Chick, which recently won the Seeds of Hope award at the Climate Film Festival.
Tell us about your journey to where you are today. What inspired you? What has your path been like?
I started out working at the New England Aquarium in college, where I learned that I could merge my love of entertainment, education, and environmental action. Then, I watched the Fred Rogers documentary a week after I graduated from college and recognized the sheer power of heart-centered children's media. Since then, I have been working in classrooms, informal education sites, and through digital media to increase climate literacy in joyful, novel ways. It has been a windy, completely non-linear path, but I'm so excited to be here today.

If I could have one superpower it would be to freeze time because I'm chronically late to everything. What song or artist has uplifted you lately?
I love the song "It's a Good Day to Fight the System" by Shungudzo (the one featuring Joy Oladokun is the best version).
