Tesicca Truong

At the age of 22, Tesicca Truong has already committed her life to educating and empowering youth to take action on sustainability issues. She is a sustainability activist, a serial changemaker, and a passionate environmental educator. In high school, she kick-started Plan-It Earth, a youth urban sustainability conference, co-founded Vancouver Youth4Tap, a city-wide movement to promote tap over bottled water, and chaired the inaugural Vancouver School Board Sustainability Conference to engage youth in environmental action. She has served on the Mayor’s Engaged City Task Force, the Simon Fraser Student Society, SFU Senate, and as board chair of Sustainable SFU.
She empowers youth to connect to the outdoors by facilitating local, provincial, national and even international summits and trainings include Get Outside BC, Natural Leaders Alliance of Canada Summit, US’ Natural Leaders Legacy Camp and the Student Climate & Conservation Congress. In her spare time, Tesicca also delivers keynotes, talks, and workshops at conferences and facilitates trainings to share her story and inspire youth to take action. For her work, she was awarded both SFU President’s Leadership in Sustainability Award, the City of Vancouver’s Greenest City Leadership Award in 2015 and has been named twice on Canada’s Top 25 Environmentalists under 25. She is currently co-founding CityHive to build communities where youth fully participate in shaping and co-creating their cities.
No matter what the future holds for her, she will use her passion, her creativity, her knowledge and her privilege to empower others to create sustainable change in the world.
