A new green learning agenda: Approaches to quality education for climate action

  • This report is aimed at providing climate and education decisionmakers with: 1) a framework for conceptualizing the green skills needed to catalyze both technical and social transformation and 2) a tool for considering three approaches to quality education for climate action. The framework presents a “new green learning agenda” in which each approach helps to solve a different aspect of the climate crisis in the spirit of the Paris Agreement—that is, through the lens of justice, equity, and fairness.

Aspen Institute: K-12 Climate Action

  • This organizations mission is to "unlock the power of the education sector to be a force toward climate action, solutions, and environmental justice to help prepare children and youth to advance a more sustainable, resilient, and equitable society." There are several climate change education resources linked on this website.

Schools for Climate Action

  • Schools for Climate Action is a non-partisan, grassroots, youth-adult campaign that works to empower schools to speak up for climate action. They have been the backbone behind several district-level climate action resolutions. Check out this model resolution if you are interested in advocating for climate education and action in your school district.

ACE Framework

  • After two inspiring webinars, four rich dialog sessions, and a robust strategic and community review process, a coalition of partners developed an ACE National Strategic Planning Framework for the United States. Dozens of people representing diverse backgrounds, organizations, and geographies participated in helping shape the Framework. The Framework supported a national U.S. Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE) plan to prepare the United States to rejoin the Paris Climate Accord.
