Windows on the Wild: Biodiversity Basics

Windows on the Wild aims to educate people of all ages about biodiversity and stimulate critical thinking, discussion, and informed decision-making on behalf of the environment. The first module of this program, Biodiversity Basics, provides a comprehensive overview of biodiversity, followed by more than thirty teaching activities. The goal of Biodiversity Basics is to introduce students to the wondrous diversity of life, and engage them in thoughtful dialogue about their place on the planet and the future of the world we all share. NAAEE and partners are working on an updated version of Biodiversity Basics with anticipated release in 2026.

Biodiversity Basics: An Educator's Guide to Exploring the Web of Life, developed by Judy Braus and many others, was published in 1999 by WWF and Acorn Naturalists.

"The most important task, if we are to save the Earth, is to educate."
