The Pratt & Whitney E-STEM Awards support promising E-STEM programs across the globe to build environmental literacy, STEM skills, and pathways to environmental careers through two funding opportunities: E-STEM Grants (supporting new programs), and E-STEM Prize (recognizing excellence in established programs). We are particularly looking to support applicant organizations that engage students in taking action on climate change solutions, sustainable energy, and/or sustainable aviation; work with underrepresented audiences in STEM; and use partnerships to boost their impact.

E-STEM Innovation Grants

The Pratt & Whitney Global E-STEM Innovation Grants program will provide up to $15,000 USD funding to nonprofit organizations and their partners for new or enhanced E-STEM programs that engage students aged 11–18. Specifically, this opportunity seeks proposals for programs that engage students, particularly those considered underrepresented in STEM, in meaningful learning experiences that increase STEM skills through environmental problem-solving.

E-STEM Excellence Prize

The Pratt & Whitney Global E-STEM Excellence Prize awards up to $50,000 USD to nonprofit organizations and their partners who have demonstrated excellence in E-STEM programming. Specifically, this opportunity seeks to recognize programs that have successfully engaged students aged 11–18, particularly those considered underrepresented in STEM, in meaningful learning experiences that increase STEM skills through environmental problem-solving (the “E” in E-STEM).

What is E-STEM?

E-STEM engages students in meaningful, real-world environmental problem-solving that integrates science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). E-STEM is not only a philosophy of teaching that promotes interdisciplinary learning, but also inspires students to apply what they learn to help solve complex environmental issues.
